Our #1 goal is to elevate the level of basketball in Central Texas by offering a premier youth summer league for 3rd - 8th grade girls and boys. By playing against the best teams in the area, our kids benefit because they get to play more of a sport they love while improving their skills and increasing their "basketball IQ."
Rather than traveling 2-3 hours to play in big city tournaments, we see an opportunity in the Heart of Texas to bring high-level basketball to our area kids during the summer.
For girls and boys finishing 3rd through 8th grade, we are hosting this competitive, 'bring-your-own-team' open league for the top youth basketball teams across Central Texas.
Given that this is our first year, we are limiting the number of overall teams to make sure we can offer a premier experience for all.
Questions & Answers
When will games be played?
We are planning the final details now, but the goal is to host all games on weeknights during the month of June.
Our plan is to have each team play 2 games per night, once per week, over the 4 weeks of June.
While the summer can be a busy time for many players and their families, we will do what we can to help teams play at times that are convenient during the week. That said, we expect a high turnout and cannot guarantee any schedule requests will be honored as it causes a domino effect across all age groups and teams.
Where will the games be played?
We have access to several gyms in Brownwood ISD. The schedule will indicate the location, day and time for the games. Ideally all games you play will be in the same location on the same night of the week.
How much is the league registration?
In order to cover the costs of the referee crews and using the area gyms, we are charging $275 per team prior to May 1st, 2019. After the early bird registration ends (5/1), the cost will be $300 per team. All registration will be done at the team level via the coaches or a designated team parent. The registration does NOT cover the cost of jerseys or practice times and locations.
How many players are on the team roster? How do the age divisions work in the summer?
Coaches can have up to 12 players on each team to allow for flexibility as many kids have a number of summer activities, camps and other sports in June.
Age divisions are based on the grade completed in the 2018/19 school year by the oldest player on the team.
What are the league rules?
We will follow similar, if not the same, rules as most of the area tournaments. We will send these out to the coaches prior to the start of the summer season.
